Prof. Bhattacharya: New Department Head for CS

Prof. Prabir Bhattacharya has accepted the position of the department head for the CS Department with effect from Sept. 1st, 2009.

Dr. Bhattacharya is currently a Tier 1 chaired professor at Concordia University in Montreal, Canada.  Prior to that appointment, he was principal scientist and group manager at Panasonic Information and Networking Technologies Laboratory in Princeton, NJ.  He began his academic career at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln.  He has held visiting appointments at the University of Maryland, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the European Molecular Biology Laboratory in Heidelberg, Germany, and Wright Patterson AFB.

Dr. Bhattacharya is a Fellow of IEEE; of the International Association for Pattern Recognition;  and of the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications.  His research interests are in computer vision, machine learning, security, and human-computer interactions.
